What is a Preposition?
A preposition is a word that connects a noun or pronoun to another word in the sentence. Prepositions give more information about something, such as position, direction, time or manner.
Preposition of position: He is sitting in his car. Er sitzt in seinem Auto.
Preposition of direction: They are coming up to Charleston. Sie kommen nach Charleston
Preposition of time: We are going to leave Charleston on April 28. Wir verlassen am 28. AprilCharleston.
Preposition of manner:

Sie ist mit ihrem Bruder nach Hause geflogen.
The noun or pronoun that the preposition connects to the sentence is called the Object of the Preposition.
He is sitting in his car. Car is the object of the preposition "in".
